Formed in 1979 by brothers Ted and Jake Milton with guitarist Peter Creese. The band made their recording debut on Factory Records, but released albums on many different labels throughout their thirty-year career. Over the years Ted Milton has kept the band going with several line-up changes, but maintaining the idiosyncrasy and originalty that has marked the Blurt sound from the very beginning. Blurt have a very strong live reputation and to this day still undertake annual tours.

London-based acid jazz quartet the Sandals only lasted for one album, but their ability to sign with a major label and score a pop hit with their single “Feet” was an early indication that trendy club music could comfortably move from the hipster fringes into the mainstream. Naturally, some despise them for this, but the group’s two releases, the full-length Rite to Silence and the EP Cracked, are superb early-’90s dance records.

Caspar Brötzmann (born 1962 in Germany) is an electric guitar player. While Brötzmann typically performs with the power trio lineup of Massaker, with guitar, bass guitar and drum set, he only uses rock and roll and heavy metal music as a basis for his music. Brötzmann’s technique has been praised by Wire: “…his attack on the instrument — explosive, obstreperous, large scale, textural, timbral — asserts the material facts of string-pickup-amplifier more bluntly than anyone else currently involved in rock”.

In 1991, inspired by the rhythms of traditional Jamaican music and the largely improvisational nature of jazz, original Jazz Warrior, and veteran jazz double bassist, Gary Crosby turned a musical concept into a joyful reality.Gary’s concept was to create a quintessential fusion of mento, ska, reggae and jazz, playing classic and modern jazz standards alongside Jamaican folksongs. To achieve this, he gathered together a group of musicians drawn from the jazz and reggae circuits, each of whom is a distinguished musician in his own right.
